Sisteron Buëch is an eco-responsible destination by nature, with its exceptional natural sites, between the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park and the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence: preserving the environment of our territory is obvious! We give you some tips to organize your eco-responsible stay and make the most of it!
A little away from the main traffic routes, our territory is worth earning and also worth thinking about!

A green stay, without constraints
Join us easily, even without a car
If you want a place surrounded by nature, where you can access it by a single small road, it exists here! If you don't want to hear the noise of the road, the train or the planes landing, it's entirely possible! The TGV station is in Aix-en-Provence; from where you can easily reach Sisteron, Laragne or Serres by train, or bus via the ZOU regional network, which links our two Alpine departments of Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Our other villages are accessible by road, you just have to ask yourself if you want to come by taxi and then do everything on foot or by bike on site, or if you prefer to rent a car to get around afterwards, or use carpooling, taxis or buses.
Explore differently
Explore our landscapes by bike
On site, you can choose to use a pleasant and sustainable means of transport by traveling by bike! Take into account that our landscapes alternate between the Buëch and Durance valleys, hilltop villages and mid-mountains, but with the bike, you can go everywhere, especially if you rent an electrically assisted bike: the summits and dream panoramas are yours! Renting a bike is very easy, just consult our different bike rental companies, depending on your size and the use you want to make of it they will advise you. Some even offer to deliver and collect the bikes from your vacation spot!

And then the bike is not only an eco-responsible means of transport, it is both the daily sports session and the best way to discover our territory. By bike, as on foot, we do not see things in the same way, we can take the time to explore this exceptional environment, we can stop where and when we want, to visit the typical streets of Serres, take a swimming break in the gorges of the Méouge, take the opportunity to meet people, discover the know-how of our producers, go to the market and taste local products!

Eating local is quite easy here!
Stock up on local flavors
Whether it is by tasting the specialties prepared by our committed restaurateurs, by choosing the Hautes-Alpes Naturellement, Agribio 04 05 label, by buying directly from our producers, you can consume fresh, seasonal, organic, and local products! The ideal place to stock up is the market, wherever you are, there is always a small weekly market to buy fruits and vegetables, cheese, and sometimes meat, search our list for all the small markets, depending on the days of the week and the location of your vacation.
On the Laragne market
Discover one of the most famous markets in the region
You can find everything you need on Thursday morning, directly at the producer's stand. Some stalls are stormed from the morning, the regulars have their tactics: they first buy the tomme from the cheesemaker, the fillets from the fishmonger, then the eggs and the chicken, before going to complete their shopping according to their desires and encounters... often finishing the market with the tourtons that they have taken care to reserve! Depending on the season, you will find strawberries, cherries or apricots and local peaches, nuts, honey and olives, apples or lavender. So, where can we go to the market today?
