Presentation

This cyclo tour allows an incursion into the Hautes Terres de Provence. Crossing the bridge over the Durance river, enter after a few kilometres the Sasse valley and its apple orchards.

A slightly steeper but short climb gives access to the Melve plateau. From there, the landscape opens up very widely to the Durance valley and the lower Buëch valley. A ridge path leads to Sigoyer. It is then the return journey through the villages of Vaumeilh and Valernes. This loop is to be combined with that of the Hautes Terres de Provence.

In Sisteron, cross the Durance towards the district of La Baume and follow the D 951 towards La Motte du Caire. After the map of La Baume, the landscape opens up. Reach the Pont du Sasse bridge (8.25 km).
At La Forge (527 m), then follow the D 951 for about 9 km.
Leave Clamensane on your right on the D 1. Continue to La Motte du Caire.
At the entrance to the village (690 m), turn left on the D 104. Short climb for 1.7 km and then it calms down until you reach Melve.
Just before the entrance to the village (833 m), turn left again on the D 304. Cross the village of Sigoyer (810 m), (orientation table, panoramic view of the Durance valley), leave the D 654 on the right.
Cross the Col de la Grêle (728 m), go back down to the village of Vaumeilh.
Turn left in the village, continue to Valernes (600 m) and join the D 304A in the Sasse valley.
On the D 304A on the left, turn right 100 m further on to take the original route back to Sisteron.
